Chris Carter Obituary

Chris Carter, 57, of Conway, died in a flash flood caused automobile accident in Mayflower on Sunday, May 1, 2011.
Born Christopher Lamont Carter in Pine Bluff May 13, 1953, a son of the late Billy Ardell and Thelma LaVerne McCrary Carter, he was a 1972 graduate of Southeast Academy in Gould, Ark.
After attending the University of Arkansas at Monticello he worked for Sears for a short time before beginning his railroad career. Joining the Cotton Belt Railroad in Pine Bluff he became a railroad engineer for what is now the Union Pacific Railroad. He was transferred to Texarkana and then back to Pine Bluff where he was currently stationed. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
Survivors include his wife, Sharen René Burgess Carter, who he married April 21, 1989, in Texarkana, Texas; sons, Christopher Chase Carter of Texarkana, Ark., and Cody Wayne Hensley of Genoa, Ark.; brother, Ardell Carter and wife, Lynn, of The Woodlands, Texas; sisters, Phyllis Carter, Suzette Rice and husband, Phillip, and Renee Rowe and husband, James, of Pine Bluff; grandson, Christopher Aiden Carter; and many nieces and nephews.
Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son in Pine Bluff with the Reverend Todd Howard officiating.
Committal services are at 3 p.m. at Chapelwood Cemetery near Texarkana.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Robinson's.
Memorials are requested to the American Red Cross of Faulkner County, 1301 Museum Rd., Conway, AR 72032.
