James Elwood Scott of Conway, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025, at the age of 75. Jim was born on Oct. 4, 1949, in Vernon, Texas, to Alice and Kenneth Scott. Jim spent the first 10 years of his life in Texas before his family moved to Conway, Arkansas, in 1959. Jim and his family moved back to Texas in 1966 where he graduated from Richland High School in 1968. He married Cathy Leigh Wright on Jan. 29, 1972, at Davis Boulevard Baptist Church in North Richland Hills, Texas. Jim and Cathy had four children: Heather, Eric, Christy and Kelli. Later in life, Jim married Linda Marie Welch on April 2, 2000, in Hurst, Texas.
Jim's deep love and unwavering passion for the Arkansas Razorbacks were integral to his life. As a devoted lifelong fan, he loved attending football games and creating countless treasured memories with family and friends while cheering enthusiastically for his beloved team.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Heather Elizabeth Leeth; and her husband, Andrew, of Fort Worth, Texas; his son, James Eric Scott, and his wife, Kortney, of Fort Worth, Texas; his daughter, Christy Michelle Karnes, and her husband, Billy, of Glen Rose, Texas; and his daughter, Kelli Cathleen Scott, of Richland Hills, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Chelsi Renzelman and her husband, Jarid; Greg Karnes and his wife, Abby; Macye Armstrong, Miley Armstrong, Mason Scott, Kyli Karnes, Major Scott and Cannon Karnes; as well as his great-grandchildren, Aspen Karnes and Nova Karnes. Additionally, he is survived by his brothers, Kenny Scott and his wife, Janis Lee, of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Monty Scott and his wife, Susan, of Fort Worth, Texas; along with numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Elmer Scott and Alice Maurine Scott Reese Thomas.
Arkansas visitation will be at 6 p.m. on Jan. 28, 2025, Roller-McNutt Funeral Home – 650 Central Landing Blvd., Conway, Arkansas, 72032.
Texas Service will be at 1 p.m. on Feb. 1, 2025, Cross Church North Richland Hills- 6955 Blvd. 26, North Richland Hills, Texas, 76180. Burial will be at a later date at Mount Olivet Cemetery- 2301 N. Sylvania Ave., Fort Worth, Texas, 76111.
