M. Flipse Obituary

FLIPSE JR., EUGENE



Dr. M. Eugene Flipse, Jr. M.D., age 89 passed away December 14, 2008 in Gainesville, FL. He was born April 17, 1919 in Montville, NJ. Dr. Flipse gave over 50 years in public service as a medical doctor, total health care provider and visionary in the development of programs for health and human services. His lifetime of accomplishments were numerous, varied and significant.



He was a Retired Commander, Medical Corp. of the US Navy Reserve and had 3 years of service in the US Army Specialized Training Program at Harvard Medical School. He graduated Hope College (Valedictorian), graduate of Harvard Medical School and graduate student at Mayo Clinic, MN. He was Founder and directed University of Miami Health Center Hospital Laboratory, Professor of Medicine at University of Miami and Director of Dade County Community Polio Program. He received numerous academic, administrative and committee appointments, directorships, internships, residencies, fellowships, national and international honors.



Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Hammock 5100 S.W. 25th Blvd. Gainesville, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Performing Arts program at PK Yonge-DRS, Gainesville.
