Charlotte Aslanian Obituary

Charlotte Deane Aslanian

Dec. 29, 1920 - April 18, 2016

Salinas

Charlotte Deane Aslanian, 95, passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness. Deane was born in Pateras, WA and spent most of her childhood in Washington and Oregon.

She was one of two women who graduated with a law degree from Willamette University in 1945. While attending the university, she met her husband Vahé Aslanian prior to his deployment to the Philippines during World War II. After graduation and before Vahé returned home, Deane worked in real estate law in Los Angeles. Not long after Vahé's return home, they moved to Monterey County where they raised their four children. In 1959, Deane entered the field of education as a kindergarten teacher and taught for 21 years with the Alisal Union School District.

Deane and Vahé enjoyed traveling the world together and exploring various cultures. In retirement, Deane volunteered her time with programs such as Adult Literacy, Reading is Fundamental, and the SPCA where she was a docent in the education department.

Deane is survived by her three children, Cynthia Aslanian, Greg Aslanian and Charles Aslanian; her seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vahé Aslanian, and her eldest daughter, Victoria Legér.

Close family and friends are welcome to attend an open house in honor of Charlotte Deane Aslanian from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2016. For more information, RSVP by email prior to May 29: [email protected].

without a doubt the grandmother of all grandmothers. I think of her multiple times a day year round. every time I dive into a bowl of hot and sour soup, I tear up thinking about our many Chinese lunches in Carmel at the golden Budda or Tommys Wok. She invented the word special.

Prayers and Condolences for Mrs. A´s Family, Colleagues and Friends. I vividly remember her as the lady that was caring and cheerful. Mrs. A became my 2 nd kindergartener teacher after moving from Spreckles sometime during the late 1960´s early 1970´s. In my eyes, as a child, she became the light at the end of the tunnel. Your Family is fortunate to have such a caring and wonderful mother.

Mrs. A was my kindergarten teacher. Today, I was a substitute teacher in the same room she taught me. I am so sad I didn't look her before, and I missed her by only a few months.

For Deane and Vahe's family,

I first met Deane while I was a student of Vahe's (Dr.A's) in his music classes in the 1960s. The last time I saw her was at Vahe's memorial service. Now it is her turn to re-join him in eternity.

I am so sorry for your loss once again of a dear parent. In all the years I knew her Deane was always so gracious and kind to me. I can still picture her at Vahe's many concerts in which I was a proud participant, and at many events related to Vahe's music ventures. I will always remember her with fondness and respect. May God bless each of your life journeys going forward.

Sincerely and with love,

May 20, 2016

Cynthia and family,

So sorry for your loss. Your mother was our daughter Gayle's kindergarten teacher and she really loved her. She was a wonderful person and always gave good advice. We will remember her always.
