Clayton Moore Obituary
Salinas - Clayton Ainsworth Moore, 40 of Salinas passed Friday April 9 2021 doing what he loved most, hiking in the mountains above Big Sur. Clay was universally liked by all who knew and met him. The most memorable first impression of Clay was his handshake and hugs. You knew you were shaking the hand of a real man as he firmly shook your hand and looked you square in the eye with a warm smile. He was born at Marion hospital in Santa Maria, CA to Virgil and Melissa Moore. Clay earned his black belt in Taekwondo making it to the junior Olympics in Florida. He was a proud member of a winning Baja 1000 race team. He was a graduate of Salinas High School. Clay was a mountain man since childhood to his last very day. Clay was a member of the Native Sons of The Golden West and the Salinas Elks Lodge. Aside from his love of the outdoors his real love was being a husband to his wife Lauren and father to his four beautiful daughters. Clay was preceded in death by his father Virgil Moore, his sister Andrea Moore, his brother Dean Nielsen, and his half brother Dusty Moore. Clay is survived by his wife Lauren, Daughters Morgan (14), Aubrey (12), Jade (7) and River (2). Mother Melissa Sharp Nielsen, step father Donald Nielsen, mother and father in law Debra and Jody Lase. Siblings James Moore, Derek Nielsen, Cassie Nielsen, Matt Nielsen and half sisters Kim and Roxanne Moore plus countless additional family and friends.
Due to Covid restrictions a memorial will be held at a later date.
