Donald Mohr Obituary

Donald E. Mohr

March 28, 1967 - November 16, 2020

Donald E. Mohr has left his earthly body on Nov. 16, 2020 and has gone to the great beyond. From the day he was diagnosed with cancer which had spread throughout his body, he passed away 24 days later. Towards the end he found comfort in his belief in God, comfort from hospice care, his immediate family, their sweet cat Lil Bits and the best comfort of all from his soul mate, the love of his life, Janice by his side. The two were inseparable. They loved nature, animals, the outdoors, rock hunting, Relay for Life, going to Arroyo Seco and vacationing at the beaches in Hawaii and Florida. They were planning an RV trip to all the national parks next year and on his way to the ER he said they will probably have to take that trip in their next life together.

Donald's life has been cut short but in his 53 years he had such an impact on everyone he came across with his humor, kindness, sweet nature and love of family. He had so many hobbies throughout the years such as coin collecting, playing video games, various art projects, carpentry, buying and selling on eBay, estate sales and when he lived in Oregon, he would take his Mom with him to sell various collectibles at the Svenson Flea Market. Indeed he was a momma's boy. Proud of it. They were buddies since the time he was a toddler comforting our mother while our dad served in Vietnam. Donald was such an interesting, inquisitive, talented, friendly, funny and loving person. We're gonna miss him and his twinkle-in-the-eye smile. Thankfully we will be comforted with many wonderful memories. Heaven is laughing and have a party.

Donald is survived by many loved ones. His partner in life, Janice, her mother Anita, her sister Diane (husband Tom), her brother Mark (wife Twila). On the Mohr side are his children. Son, Brandon (wife Justine), granddaughter Autumn. Daughter, Amber (fiancée Nathan). Son, Donald Jr, grandson Akira. His 81-year old mother Tsutako, sister Janet and her kids Emmie and Roland, sister Tats and her husband Tim, brother Charlie, brother Tommy and his kids Gerrit, Adrian and Nikolas, niece Danielle (George), Aunt Charlotte of Florida, Uncle Dennis (Dorothy) of Oregon, Uncles Joe (Linda) and Earl of Las Vegas, Aunt Betty of Hollister and many more cousins, nieces and nephews. On the japanese side Uncle Naoto, wife Aunt Taeko and Aunt Misako, husband Uncle Seiichi of Tokyo.

He was preceded in death by father Ronald Mohr, paternal grandparents Mary and Earl Fraser, Uncles Charlie, Lenny, Aunt Joy, cousin Doreen, his maternal grandfather Soji Kitamura, Uncle Shoichi of Nagano, Japan.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and social workers at Natividad Hospital, Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital and Heartland Hospice Care, Dr. Smith, nurses Walter and Jason.

Many thanks to Diane, Tom, Janet, Emmie, Tats, Tsutako, Danielle, George, Brandon and Amber. It truly takes a village. Most importantly a special thank you goes to Janice who gave Don the best life, loving care and kept him going so that he could say his goodbyes to everyone. She is truly a living angel.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Donald's memory to the Monterey County SPCA, PO Box 3058, Monterey, CA 93942 or American Cancer Society, Salinas CA Relay for Life, 747 Camden Ave B, Campbell, CA 95008.

A Celebration of Life will be held next year when it is safe for everyone to get together.

I am saddened to hear of Donald's passing I kept hoping some day we'd grab coffee when he was in town. He had been a dear friend since 5th grade. In our younger years, many times he would listen to my troubles but then time passes and life happens. We loss touch until Facebook reconnected us. Every now and then we would drop a note to each other. Thank you dear friend for the laughter, love and support you gave in our friendship. You will be missed.
Always,
Michelle

We were so very sorry and saddened to hear about Donald’s passing. David has many fond memories of spending time with his childhood friend and reconnecting throughout the years. The last time they spoke over a year ago, David asked “How is mom?” Referring to Donald’s mom. This world lost a truly amazing person! Prayers for his whole family.
