James Humphries Obituary
James Christopher Humphries, 54, of Salinas, passed away at home Friday, May 29, 2009.
He was born in Salinas May 17, 1955. James loved nature, animals and camping, especially on the Truckee river.
Survivors: Sister, Jean Humphries; brothers, George (Roda) Humphries and John & Mark; niece Alice and Nephew Geyvon. James was preceded in death by his parents George and Frances Humphries.
Graveside Service: 10 a.m., Friday, June 5 at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott Street.
Reception: To follow at La Fogata Restaurant, 232 Main Street, Salinas, Calif.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in James' name to Monterey County SPCA, 1002 Salinas HWY, Monterey, Calif.
Arrangements: By Struve and Laporte Chapel.

I worked with Jim for 11 at Gavilan View. I was a special ed teacher there and left 2 years ago. I LOVED him. He was a big, huggable, jovial teddy bear. I was stunned to hear of his passing yesterday. As Billy Joel said, "only the GOOD die young." His heart was as big as he was. Every morning , like clockwork, I would see his smiling face out there supervising the quad before school. He worked his tail off at GV...always on the go. I can't imagine this world without Jim in it. It is hard to fathom. I will miss the knowledge of your brother's smiling face and presence TERRIBLY!God bless you all in your grief. Thanks for sharing Jim with all of us at Gavilan View. He touched us all and we adored him. Take GOOD care.
