Louise Angulo Obituary

Salinas

Louise "Dolly" Angulo

Louise "Dolly" Angulo, 84, of Salinas, passed away unexpectedly at her home on August 25, 2012, two weeks after the death of her husband, Robert Angulo.

Dolly was born in the Santa Rita area of Salinas on May 26, 1928. She lived in Salinas for her entire life and continued to be close friends with her neighbors from Santa Rita. Dolly always took the time to catch up with old friends at weekly bingo games, meetings of Angela's Angels at Madonna del Sasso Church, and monthly luncheons at various restaurants in Salinas. Dolly had a way of making all those that she was close with feel special.

Not only a native of Salinas, she was proud of her Native American lineage and was an elder of the Costanoan tribe of the Ohlone Nation. The tribe originated in the Monterey County area, and her family was located near the foothills of Corral De Tierra. She was featured in a book about Native Californians in the Monterey County region. Dolly made sure to pass on the importance of her Native American history to her family.

Dolly will be forever remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother and "Nonie." She took pride in being a homemaker and was fulfilled by the loving and strong family and extended family network that she helped to shape. She has 5 children, 10 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, and numerous great grandchildren. From wearing a homemade apron with all of her grandchildren's handprints, to giving her children a look of happiness and pride, to posting family photos on the "Frigidaire," she let her family know that they were always in her heart. Nonie's memory will live on through the smiles of her children and grandchildren.

Dolly was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert Angulo on August 3, 2012; daughter, Shirley Knappe; parents, Antone and Libbie Silvey; brothers, Hyland and Tony "Babe" Silvey; and her sister, Allene Alvarado.

Dolly is survived by her children, Bobby (Mary) Angulo, Mike (Pam) Angulo, David (Yolanda) Angulo, Shelley (Jeff) Dickinson; her son-in-law, John Knappe; and her sister, Ethel Morales.

Rosary will be held Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Struve and Laporte Funeral Home, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas, CA 93901.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Madonna del Sasso Church, 320 E. Laurel Dr., Salinas, CA 93906.

Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott St., Salinas, CA 93901.

Mrs Angulo, I will always and forever remember you! If you only knew the joy I felt every time I seen you walk into the pharmacy. I was always your go to girl when it came to looking for the perfect gift. The girls at the pharmacy knew you were my favorite customer and always made sure to inform me you were there. I can not even begin to explain the shock I am in. You were one of the sweetest ladies I've ever met. When I lost my job at the pharmacy I knew I probably wouldn't see you again, it broke my heart, but you been one the few the always think about! I'll never forget the stories you shared with me nor your loving personality. You always made sure to keep me on my feet when it came to education saying,"Never give up on your dreams of being a nurse!" You always reminded me of my grandmother so loving and caring and the love for your granddaughter reminded me the relationship I share with my grandma. I always keep you in my heart, and I'll keep your family in prayer during these hard times! May you rest in Peace Mrs. Angulo.
