Randall Lemos Obituary

Randall Steven Lemos

September 26, 1959 - May 21, 2015

Soledad

Randall Steven Lemos, of Soledad, passed away peacefully in his home, after a brief illness on May 21, 2015. He was born Sept. 26, 1959 to the late Robert and Carmen Lemos, also of Salinas.

Growing up in Salinas, he was well known for his athletic ability of track, football and wrestling at Washington Jr. High School and North Salinas High Class of '77. After school, Randall joined the US Navy serving for four years with the Seabees, a time of his life that he was most proud, following the tradition of his older brother and father of serving his country. Soon after his military service he began working at the United States Postal Service where he worked for the next 27 years until his retirement. After leaving the service, he married Sandra Sanchez and raised two children, Amanda and Steven, who were the light of his life.

He loved the 49ers and the rival competition of the Cowboys, his daughter's favorite team. He also was an avid gamer and loved playing with his son and nephews and anyone who would sit with him long enough to play against him.

He was also an avid coin collector, a trait he acquired from his father, and shared that love with his family and helped them start their own collection. Randy, as he was known to everyone, loved to talk and would share his knowledge to anyone who would listen making him the greatest story teller. He enjoyed hiking in the Pinnacles with his nephew, and spending time in Arroyo Seco with his best friend, Roy McCallon and family. He was very jovial and was always looking for a way to make anyone smile .

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ezias Robert Lemos Sr. and Carmen Patricia H. Lemos and step-daughter, Mary Rachel Montoya.

He is survived by wife, Mary Rachel Lemos; son, Steven Lemos; daughter, Amanda Lemos; step-son, Phillip Montoya, Veronica L. S. Banda, Thomas D. Shrauger, Amanda M. Montoya; his siblings; sister, Sylvia Herrera, Patricia A. Sepulveda, Ezias Robert Lemos Jr, Elena (Helen) and Walter Flores; his beloved twin, Diana and David Diaz; his 10 step-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild and his lifelong best friend, Roy McCallon.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015, at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas, CA 93901.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas, CA 93901.

Elena & family ~ I have been so saddened by Randy's passing. he was such a sweet, kind, and loving person that even when I had not seen him for several years, when I did it was as though time had not passed. he was such a close friend to my older son's dad (who passed away when he was 34 - very prematurely, very suddenly). he was in our home on a regular basis and was just the sweetest and kindest friend Dan had. I know that they are now up there hugging and hanging out! my deepest condolences to all of you.
