Wanda "Sue" A. Souza
Wanda "Sue" Souza, 88, of Soledad, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011, at her daughter's residence in Salinas.
Wanda was born April 14, 1923, in Gonzales and had been a life-time resident of Monterey County. She graduated from Gonzales High School, class of 1941; was employed at CTF-Soledad as a Parole Secretary in the 1960's, and retired from the Soledad School District in 1978, after 17 years of service. She greatly enjoyed reading, traveling, and caring for her pet companion, "Pug". Wanda and her late husband, Melvin, enjoyed traveling the U.S. in their motorhome and RV. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
She is survived by her three children, Dennis (Tish) Souza of Williams, Cliff (Jackie) Souza of Coulterville, Beverly (Steve) Ackerman of Salinas; ninie grandchildren, Brian, Steve, Joseph, Tom, Shawn, Kristi, Jeff, Holly, Laura; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Souza in 1999; brother, Walter Buckley; and sister, Dorothy Crabtree.
Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 15, 2011, from 9 to 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church, 235 Main St., Soledad, Calif.; followed with Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will take place at the Soledad Cemetery.

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam. And for a brief moment its glory and beauty belong to our world. But then it flies on again, and though we wish it could have stayed, we feel so lucky to have seen it.
