Nina Mae Montgomery Farmer, age 94, of Raleigh, North Carolina and formerly of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2015 in the Oaks at Mayview in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Mrs. Farmer was born in Carroll County, Virginia on January 13, 1921 to John Wise and Anne Blanche Chappell Montgomery. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Oley Farmer and brother Claude Kennon Montgomery.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Marcelle Farmer Hooks and Claude Allen Hooks of Raleigh, North Carolina; son and daughter-in-law Richard Oley Farmer and Gail Puder Farmer of Hampstead, North Carolina; grandchildren Christopher Parrish; Melissa G. Byrd; Clarinda D. Howard; Olivia Mae Farris and Audra M. Burrows; seven great-grandchildren; one niece Sharon Montgomery-Jertberg.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 28, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Elder Steve Gayheart officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Woodlawn Cemetery,c/o Libby Bowman, P O Box 391, Woodlawn, VA 24381
