Mrs. Ollie Ayers Ayers, age 87 of Cana, Va,. passed away with her family by her side on Sunday May 17, 2015 at Heritage Hall in Laurel Fork, Va. Mrs. Ayers was born December 20, 1927 in Carroll County Va. to the late Rufus E. Ayers and Savada Emaline Ayers. Mrs. Ayers was a homemaker and orchardist. Surviving are six daughters, Caroline and the late William Harnsberger of Patrick Springs Va., Frances and Nelson Dawson of Ararat Va. , Peggy and Emmett Crotts, Phyllis and Billy Allen, Dorothy and Danny Gray Hiatt all of Cana, Va., Diana Lineberry and the late Wayne Lineberry of Austinville, Va., and one son Donald Chester Ayers and Donna Webb Ayers of Laurel Fork, Va. Mrs. Ayers was survived by fifteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. She is survived by two brothers, Joseph Emanuel Ayers and Victor Ernest Ayers and wife Wilma Ayers. She is also survived by a brother in law, Alfred Gwynn of Walnut Cove, NC. Mrs. Ayers was a life-long loyal member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church of the Wards Gap community. She was a devoted mother, wife and grandmother to her family and their rock. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and working in the orchard alongside her husband. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Chester Ayers, three sisters, Mae Ayers, June Gwynn and Zettie Gwynn and a brother E. J. Ayers. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church on Wards Gap Rd in Cana, Va. Services will be conducted by Rev. Isreal Gwyn and Rev. Lewis Martin with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church. Flowers will be accepted or donations to the Oak Grove Church Cemetery Fund c/o Esther Ayers, 4217 Bear Trail Rd, Cana, Va 24317.
