Sharon Dobbins Obituary
Sharon Gail Dalton Dobbins, age 77, departed this earthly life on 10/2/2025 at Heritage Hall Laurel Meadows, Laural Fork, VA. Sharon was born in Freemont, VA 3/31/1948. An only child, she was preceded in death by her parents Howard "Phillip" and Dorothy Worrell Dalton and her beloved husband of 45 years Douglas Ray Dobbins. Survivors include two aunts, Shirley Webb of Hillsville and Hazel Worrell of Pilot Mtn, NC. A few cousins include Roger Beaty (Vickie), Gary Beaty (Karen), John Beaty (Mary), all of Charlotte, NC. Donald Isaac Worrell, Larry Dalton (Lois) of Hillsville, Teresa Doane FL and Stanley Webb (April) of Meadows of Dan. Close friends Karen Gallimore, Amanda Worrell, Linda Marshall, Kathy Rothgeb, Frances Crowder, Kay Utterback, and Stephanie Dalton. Special Cousin and Caretaker, Linda Beaty Bell and Bob of Charlotte, NC.
Sharon was a life long member of Fairview Presbyterian Church, holding many positions and being very active in Fairview Presbyterian Women.
She graduated from Hillsville High School in 1966 and Radford College in 1970. Sharon taught math, geometry, and algebra at Hillsville Intermediate for 31 years before retiring in 2003. She was a charter member of the Carroll County Historical Society. She was an expert genealogist specializing on the families Dalton, McPeak, Murphy, and Worrell. In retirement, Sharon became an accomplished painter under the tutelage of Linda Beroth.
A Graveside Service and Burial was held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 1:00 PM at C.C Webb Cemetery #741, Laurel Fork, VA, and Mark Jones officiated. There was no visitation. A guest book is available online by visiting www.vaughnguynnandmcgrady.com

Mrs. Dobbins was one of the best teachers I ever had during middle school. Many days she stayed after to help tutor me on assignments. She didn't let any student give up on the hard work, and she showed up to help without being asked. I'm glad she pushed me hard to be successful and gave of her time. Such a sweet, kind person. Very grateful for her presence in my learning.

Ms. Dobbins was a respected member of the community. I visited her recently at Heritage Hall but did not get the chance to speak with her as she was sleeping at the time of my visit. God bless those left to cherish her memory.
