Betty Jean Edwards, 83, passed away on Thursday November 2, 2023, at home in Erwin, TN surrounded by her loving family. Betty is the daughter of the late David and Ora Lee (Renfro) Bryant of Erwin, TN. Betty was born in Yancey County, NC on July 8, 1940. She grew up in Eastern TN where she met the love of her life, Lawrence in Erwin. They married and settled in CT. Betty had a long career in dietary services, retiring from the State of Connecticut, DMR. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Windham, CT. Eleven years ago when she returned to Erwin, she attended The Ninth Street Baptist Church. Betty enjoyed traveling the country with her husband. She enjoyed cooking and hosting large family gatherings around their pool and in their home for the holidays. But more than anything, she loved spending time with her family and close friends. Betty was predeceased in death by her husband, Lawrence I Edwards Sr. (Larry) and her son, Lawrence I Edwards, Jr. (Larry) and a sister, Almarie Suter.

Betty was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: a daughter, Marsha Olszta and husband Ken of Jonesborough, TN; grandchildren: Heather Pehowdy and husband, Corey of Kingsport, TN, Thayer Olszta and wife, Loren of New Britain, CT, Emily Olszta and partner, Issacc Banner of Johnson City, TN; great-grandchildren: James, Taylor, Zander, Walker, Michael and Lily; sisters, Mary Ann Graybeal of Erwin, Hazel Tolley of Erwin and Nancy Bass of Powell, TN.

Betty's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic. Her funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Windham Center Cemetery, Windham.
