David Burr Obituary

WINDHAM

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Father, David Edward Burr, known affectionately as Dave to his family and friends. Dave was born on January 26, 1940 in Willimantic, Connecticut to Leonard William Burr and Lilliane Mary Gladue Burr. He passed away on February 20, 2025 with his loving family along side of him at the age of 85. Dave lent his warmth and kindness to the world for over eight decades until his passing in Norwich, Connecticut from Pneumonia. His legacy of love, generosity, and selflessness leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. Dave was the epitome of a family man deeply devoted to his two daughters, Terri lee Coon ~ Son In Law, Brian David Coon. Tina Marie Minzer, and he reveled in his role as doting Grandfather to Elana Burr, Silvia Burr, and William David Coon ~ spouse Alexis Marie Hart. Dave also leaves behind many Nieces and Nephews who he loved so very much, and they adored him dearly. His unwavering support and love for his family were cornerstones of his life. Dave was a High School Graduate, and from a young age found his calling in the local community as a skilled butcher at Harry's Market, and later as a respected grocery manager. He knew the value of a good cut of meat and the secret to managing life's challenges. Dave's dedication to work was matched only by his commitment to the community served. His involvement in the industry was marked by his characteristics of enthusiasm, and friendliness making him a well known face and friend to many. Outside of work his interests were rich and varied as his character. He would often be found shuffling a deck of cards and sharing laughs around the table with his family and friends. Dave loved being outside either on his deck tending to his Begonia's, or working on a word search puzzle, and mowing the lawn with Cq. Not to mention his hands were skilled in the garden nurturing his plants with the same care and attention he gave his loved ones. He was a master at kindness and joy. Although the physical presence of David Edward Burr is no longer with us his spirit endures in every life he touched. His legacy is not only measured by the years he spent earth, but also by the smiles he shared, the lessons he imparted, and the unconditional love he offered. Dave will be incredibly missed, yet forever cherished. His memory will remain a guiding light to all who had the privilege to know this extraordinary man, a loving Father, Husband, a treasured Grandfather, a kind friend, true gentleman. Dave is predeceased by his loving wife, Majorie B. Burr. Brothers, Richard Burr, Bruce Burr Sr.. Sisters, Ora M. Dupuis, Sandra J. Henry.

A Celebration Of Life will be held at a later date.

The Family wishes to send a special Thank You to the staff at the William W. Backus Hospital for their compassion and care.

The best memory I have of of Uncle David is when he and aunt Marge and Terri and Tina and other family came to our house in Lebanon and he made pizza and candy apples. That is my best memory of him.
