John Kochiss Obituary

FRANKLIN

John Lanny Kochiss of Franklin, died at home on Sunday, September 28. He was 84.

He was the son of John and Margaret (Bobolsky) Kochiss of Easton. He is survived by his children, Greg Kochiss (Summer) of Denver, CO., Shelley Manion (Dave) of Torrington and Jeffrey Kochiss (Michelle) of Cheshire; grandchildren, Shyan Young, Dylan Heller, Anna Kochiss, Griffin Kochiss and Bradley McAninch, two great-grandchildren, and his wife, Maryanne Gryboski. He was predeceased by his grandson, Easton Kochiss and his sister,

Gail Dellermann.

John was born in Bridgeport and spent his early life in Easton. He was a graduate of Joel Barlow High School and West Virginia Wesleyan University. He spent most of his professional career as an Accounts Examiner with the CT Dept. of Labor. After retirement, to keep busy, he drove a school bus in Easton and the senior van for Lebanon.

John believed in the importance of giving back to his community and served as treasurer of the Easton Volunteer Fire Company, as coach of Harwinton Little League, and treasurer for both the Franklin Lions Club and RTC.

John always made time to help friends with a lift to appointments, a move to a new residence or bringing in a load of manure or mulch. He was an honest and generous man who always tried to do his best.

Memorial plans are currently incomplete.

John, you are missed at the Bozrah Senior Center. Enjoyed our conversations, participation in exercise classes and card games. You always shared with us what is going on around town and your hiking adventures with your family. Loved your quiet and kind ways and your smile. Bye for now Judy P. and friends.
