Scott Clairmont Obituary

COLUMBIA

Scott M. Clairmont passed away at the age of 45 on December 16, 2023, in Westerly, Rhode Island after a 2-year battle with cancer. Born on November 18, 1978 in Hartford, Connecticut, Scott was a beloved son, husband, brother, uncle, and friend. Scott grew up in Columbia, Connecticut, and graduated from Windham High School. After earning an Associate Degree in Horticulture from the University of Connecticut, he went to work landscaping for Universal Studios in Florida. He returned to Connecticut and worked for the Town of Windham as Assistant Superintendent and later promoted to Superintendent of Public Works. He eventually retired as the Field Services Superintendent for the Town of Manchester, Connecticut, where his hard work and commitment to excellence left an indelible mark on his department and the hearts of his colleagues.

Scott's passions were as bright as his smile outside of work. An avid lover of the outdoors, he found peace and joy in landscaping, a skill he cultivated with the same attention to detail that characterized his professional endeavors. The beach was also a sanctuary for Scott, where he could rest in the sun, comb the beach for sea glass, and enjoy the rhythm of the waves. Scott's sense of humor and wit was a gift that brought laughter to everyday moments and comfort during times of challenge. His life was a testament to the power of laughter, the strength of character, and the depth of affection. His courage was quietly profound, never more evident than his dignified confrontation with illness. Through it all Scott's grace and kindness remained a constant, gentle force, that made him a cherished presence in the lives of those he encountered including the medical professionals who cared for him.Though he has left us too soon, the memory of his laughter, the example of his courage, and the warmth of his kindness will continue to inspire and comfort all who were privileged to know him. As we honor the memory of Scott M. Clairmont, we reflect on a life well-lived, marked by genuine connections, a tireless work ethic, and a heart that knew no bounds. We will hold him in our hearts forever, remembering a man who made the world a brighter place simply by being in it.

He leaves behind a loving family: his wife, Kelley Clairmont; stepchildren, Alex Collins and Dr. Cait Silvestri his caring parents, Ann and Rod Clairmont; his brothers, Jim Clairmont and Mark Clairmont, along with Mark's wife, Tina; and his adored nephew and niece, Jared and Ashley Clairmont. Each of them carries forward a piece of Scott's spirit and enduring love. As we bid farewell to Scott we celebrate the legacy he leaves behind one of joyful memories, lasting friendships, and communities made better by his presence. A Celebration of Scott's Life will be held on January 30, 2024 at Willimantic Brewing Company from 5:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m.
