Bobby Ramey Obituary
Born on May 30, 1932, in Rabun County, he was a son of the late William Nathaniel "Nat" Ramey and Iva Lee Simmons Ramey. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 years, Shirley Jean Ramey; sons, Bobby Jr. and Marty Ramey; grandson, Jimmy Allen Ramey; great-grandson, Colton; three brothers; and two sisters.
Bobby was a devoted family man, a proud U.S. Army veteran, and a true outdoorsman. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and spent his life providing for those he loved. A skilled farmer and beekeeper, Bobby also raised chickens and worked in construction. When he wasn't working, Bobby found joy in the great outdoors, especially fishing and deer hunting.
Survivors include his daughters, Marjorie Johnson (Alan) Zaharko of Savannah, Ga., Diane Steele (Nick) and Lisa Almzan (Carlos) of Clayton, Ga.; sons, Mike Ramey, Tommy Ramey (Becky), Wayne Ramey (Christy) of Clayton, Ga., Jimmy Ramey (Amber) of Otto, N.C., and Stephen Ramey (Angela) of Midland, Ga.; 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; ex-daughters-in-law that were like daughters, Lynne Ramey, Judy Ruble and Ramona Dawn; step-sister, Betty York of Toccoa, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug. 4, 2025, at noon at Rocky Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Kyle Watts and Rev. David Cross officiating. Interment followed in Rocky Grove Community Cemetery with full military honors provided.
The family received friends from 11 a.m. until the service hour on Monday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rocky Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 6900 Bridge Creek Rd. Tiger, GA 30576.
