Clarice Bartlett Obituary
Clarice was born Oct. 2, 1937, in Rabun Gap, to the late Cecil Cannon and late Ida Gillespie Cannon.
Clarice is survived by her loving husband, Clayton Bartlett; son, Steve Bartlett (Dawn); grandchildren, Clayton Bartlett, Travis (Danielle) Stanaland, and Samuel Bartlett; great-grandchildren, Issiac Stanaland and Caleb Stanaland.
A graveside service was held to honor the life of Clarice at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2024, in the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital. Donations can be made online at www.stjude.org/give or by mail to 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

I am not sure how old I was...I think I was 10 when I stayed with Aunt Clarice and Uncle Clayton for some time in the summer. I remember how loving and kind Clarice was. At 10 I did not know what it would be like to stay in someone else's home - and Aunt Clarice took any awkwardness away immediately. I remember how Clarice quickly earned my coolest mom award - Steve and I were playing outside one day. We caught a frog (like 10-year-old boys do). Steven taught me how to dissect it. We brought it inside to show Clarice (it was still partially alive by the way). And instead of screaming - Clarice calmly and lovingly, said "very nice - now keep it outside Steven." - For me - Clarice represented the coolest mom in the world. I assumed moments like the time spent with Aunt Clarice, Uncle Clayton and Steven would be plentiful - but years went by, and the moments together were much less frequent than they should have been. Aunt Clarice made me feel her love - and in some small way - I selfishly let myself feel like her son. I love you Aunt Clarice.
