Christy Lea McMurtrey

April 21, 1981 – June 8, 2025


Christy Lea McMurtrey, 44, of Clinton passed away peacefully June 8, 2025. She attended Clinton High School and received a Veterinary Assistant Certification from Mississippi State University. She had an unconditional love for animals, especially cats. (She was known as the "cat whisperer'). She was the girl that stopped to move a turtle out of the road.


She leaves behind a devoted, caring and loving mother, Deanie McMurtrey, a favorite (and only) brother, Wayne Anderson; and loving Aunt Gay Marsalis, all of Clinton; two daughters, Makenzie Tucker, 24, and Lillian Tucker, 15, all of Monroe, NC, and many friends.


She is preceded in death by her father, Bobby C. McMurtrey (2000).
