Florence Schroeder Obituary

Florence A. (Hermiller) Schroeder

Florence A. "Flossie" Schroeder, 97, passed away at 2:25 p.m. Sunday, September 14, 2025, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. She was born September 1, 1928, in Glandorf, to the late John and Mary (Rosenbauer) Hermiller. On October 26, 1950, she married Thaddeus Schroeder, who preceded her in death April 11, 2022.

Flossie is survived by seven children, Jean Ann (Anthony) Kenney of Dayton, Carol (Dennis) Bockrath of Kalida, Victoria (Dale) Schroeder of Columbus Grove, Charles (Tammy) Schroeder of Leipsic, Gary (Keek) Schroeder of Leipsic, Jan (James) Leis of Miller City, and Jodi (Corey) Gilbert of Greenwood, Indiana; 20 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren with one on the way. Survivors also include one brother, John (Mary Ann) Hermiller of Glandorf; two sisters, Margaret Schimmoeller of Kalida and Donna Utrup of Ottawa; two sisters-in-law, Bertha Hermiller of Ottawa and Roni Hermiller of Coldwater; and one brother-in-law, Cleo Liebrecht of Glandorf.

She was preceded in death by two children, Dwaine Schroeder and Glen Schroeder; six brothers, Wilfred (Ruthie), Richard (Lou Ann), Lavern (Delores/Marge), Arthur (Alice), Carl, Dennis, and Harold Hermiller; five sisters, Joyce Hermiller, Mary Ann Hermiller, Genevieve (Henry) Rosengarten, Delores (Arthur) Schimmoeller, and Doris Liebrecht; three brothers-in-law, Felix Fenbert, Kenneth Schimmoeller, and Adrian Utrup; and one sister-in-law, Emma Rosengarten.

Flossie was a homemaker and worked alongside her husband on the family farm. She cherished her faith and enjoyed spending time with her family, along with playing euchre and bingo. She also took pleasure in canning, cooking, crocheting, and sewing and was known for sewing doll clothes for many years. Flossie was an avid Leipsic Viking fan and attended many of her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting events. She was a member of Leipsic St. Mary's Catholic Church and Rosary Altar Society. Flossie was also a member of Leipsic American Legion Auxiliary and Leipsic VFW Auxiliary.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic, with the Rev. Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic, and one hour prior to Mass Thursday at St. Mary's Parish Life Center.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
