Betty Anderson Obituary

Betty J. Anderson, 88, of DuBois, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Christ the King Manor.

Born on July 28, 1936, in Bradford, PA, Betty was a 1954 graduate of Bradford Area High School. She dedicated over 60 years to the restaurant industry as a well-known waitress and hostess. Affectionately called "Betty Boop" by those who knew her, she worked at Desalve's Truck Stop, Sheraton Inn, Gateway Café, Eat 'n Park, and later as a hostess at Buck's Pizza until her retirement in 2021.

Betty had a deep love for people and enjoyed engaging with her coworkers and customers and nearly everyone she met. She found joy in traveling, playing cards and games, and spending time with her grandchildren. A long-time member of the Sandy Club, she also pursued writing and authored a book during her lifetime.

She is survived by her sons, Roger (Renee) Coleman of Minot, ND; Thomas (Jill) Dragoone of Canton, GA; James (Lynda) Dragoone of DuBois; and Lenny Anderson Jr. of DuBois; two sisters, Vivian Russell of Olean, NY, and Sandra Eaton of Frewsburg, NY; six grandchildren: Roger (MaryBeth) Coleman of Minot, ND; Nicole Coleman (significant other, Adam) of League City, TX, Thomas and William Dragoone of Canton, GA; Josh Dragoone (fiancée Shey) of Ramey, PA; and Kaitlin Anderson of DuBois; one great-granddaughter, Kate Coleman of Minot, ND; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Laura (Lacavera) Persichini; two sons, Leonard Eugene Anderson and Frank Phillip Dragoone; three brothers, Eugene, Gerald, and Phillip Persichini; and one sister, Gloria Owens.

Betty's warmth and dedication to those around her will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

I'd not seen Betty for several years, but remember always trying to get seated in her section when we went to eat at the Gateway. She had the greatest personality ... kind, funny, very likeable. My deepest condolences to her family. Sincerely, Shelly Lerch

I've known Betty for 49 years. One of my fondest memory of her was waitressing at the Gateway. She went to Hawaii with a group of us in 1978 and she still talked about that trip. Recently I have been a regular visitor to Christ the King and have stopped to talk to Betty a few times. She remembeted the good old days. I will miss her.
