Dennis Town Obituary

Dennis E. Town, 81, a lifelong resident of Brockway, passed away on May 11, 2024, at the DuBois Nursing Home.

Born on July 13, 1942, in DuBois, he was the son of the late John (Jack) and Eugenia (Jean) Town. He was a member of St. Tobias Church in Brockway.

Like most others in the area at the time, he started his career at Brockway Glass, Inc. utilizing his Civil Engineering degree from Penn State. Beginning as a draftsman, he worked his way up and was ultimately responsible for facility planning and engineering management of multi-million-dollar plant and office projects. He also achieved the highest-ranking position bestowed to an engineer, that of Chief Engineer. He separated ways with Brockway Glass when it was acquired, and the engineering resources were transferred out of Brockway. For a period, he worked as a private consulting engineer for various regional companies, including Brockway Pressed Metals and Glenshaw Glass. He finished his career at VSI Inc., providing the same facility planning and engineering management skills that he became known for earlier in his career.

For most of his life, many turned to him when in need. He was figuratively the "Town Engineer," constantly rushing out to tinker on some project or another for his friends, neighbors, and associates. Otherwise, he spent hours every evening laughing with his buddies at his favorite local eateries. Later in life, he took daily walks with his beloved black lab, enjoying the great outdoors for hours at a time.

His happiest times were bonding with his late son, Greg, as they took care of their horses together. They can finally pick back up on where they last left their conversation. Known to all simply as Denny, he also served as Dad, Grandpa, and Papa to a privileged few who miss him so much.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eugenia Town and his son, Greg. He is survived by his loving children (and their spouses), David (Krystina) of Cranberry Township, PA and Traci (Mike) McGillicuddy of Annandale VA; his grandchildren Julian, Nicholas, Katie, Michael, and Neve; his brother John (Christine) Town of Brockway and sister Kathleen Town Sullinger of Ormond Beach, FL; daughter-in-law Tabitha (Jason) Muth of Brockway and many other close relatives and dear friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at St. Tobias Catholic Church, 1135 Hewitt St., Brockway, with Fr. John Detisch presiding. Interment will follow in Beechtree Cemetery alongside his son. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, May 20 at the Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. 1033 4th Avenue, Brockway. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be given to Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org). Online condolences may be left at csfhinc.com.

Denny was in my sister Ann's class in h.s. Denny and I went to the first Super Bowl together in Jan. 1967 as together we completely engineering and rebuilt the Pomona glass plant that winter of 1967. A friend for life. Wish I could meet him at the bar at the Rocky Grill and have a beer and talk. Rich
