Elizabeth Deardorff Obituary

Liz always marched to the beat of her own drum, but it cannot be overstated that her best attribute was her passion for her family and spending time with loved ones.

Tons of family, friends, prime rib, Yorkshire pudding, trifle, and a slew of golden retrievers are just some of the memories of Liz's gatherings.

Elizabeth "Liz" Deardorff's life began in Watertown, Wisconsin on August 22, 1940. She was the third daughter of the late Chester and Elinore Hanson. Her older sisters, Andreina and Mariah adored her from the moment she was born.

At the age of 20, Liz fell in love with the man who would stay with her for the rest of his life. On September 16, 1961, she married her husband John F. Deardorff. John adored Liz for his entire life, supporting her in following her many dreams. No matter what her passions, traveling, moving to New Mexico on a whim, or the countless golden retriever puppies she loved to breed, John always ensured Liz's dreams came true.

Liz raised her son, William "Bill" (Jenn), and daughter, Laura. Liz was thrilled to become a grandmother to Katie, Michael (Marisa), Ellie, and Lauren. Liz continued to care for her family while faithfully supporting John during his career as the General Manager of Triangle Auto Spring in DuBois, PA. In her spare time, Liz enjoyed time with friends, going out for dinner with a glass of Jameson, and always being surrounded by her dogs. Liz and John often traveled to Hilton Head, SC, and enjoyed playing golf together.

Sadly, John passed away on May 16, 2012, and Liz's friends and family lifted her through those difficult years.

The last few years of Liz's life were hard as the aging process took hold. One by one, the memories of a beautiful life flickered and dimmed. But she continued to cherish the warm embrace of friends and family and find comfort whenever surrounded by conversation and laughter. She never stopped absorbing the love coming from those around her. She never stopped being Liz.

On September 28, 2024, Liz shed her earthly pain and made a graceful exit, surrounded by love.

Family and friends will gather at a future date to celebrate Liz, our mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

I am so sorry for your loss. Liz was a good family friend and a wonderful hostess. She brought everyone together with fun parties and fabulous cooking! I have many fond memories of time spent together both in DuBois and a fun visit to Santa Fe. My deepest sympathy for the whole family and all who knew her.

Liz was a huge part of my childhood and beyond. I have wonderful memories of holidays spent with our families, the Christmas Eve parties, Second Avenue, the farm, and Coke Hill - twice! My deepest sympathy to Bill, Jenn, Laura and her beloved grandchildren.

So sorry for your loss! I have such found memories of Liz being our neighbor on 2nd Ave and time spent at "The Farm". Fun times dog sitting her beautiful golden retrievers and fun family Christmas parties! Her friendship with my mother was special. I hope they are giggling and golfing together in heaven!

I remember Liz as a gracious hostess at the Triangle Christmas parties at the Deardorff's....and the gentle golden retrievers hoping for a handout. Rest in peace Liz.
