Evalyn DeNoon Obituary

Evalyn "Sue" DeNoon, 86, died November 12, 2024 at her residence in Brockway, Pennsylvania.

Born January 19, 1938, in New Madrid, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late John Amon and Oma Hazel Wagley and middle sibling to her brothers, Donald and Jerry.

On December 21, 1963, she was married to the late Robert DeNoon. After high school, she attended college at Anderson University in Indiana, and received her master's degree at Ball State University which led her to a career as an elementary school teacher and later in her career she continued her education to become the principal of DuBois Central Christian.

Sue and her husband moved around often due to his career in the Boy Scouts of America, having two sons along the way. Residing in the states of Indiana, New York, and Pennsylvania, she would teach within several elementary school systems as a substitute teacher and eventually stayed current with catholic schools for the rest of her career. After the passing of Bob's parents and his retirement from the Boy Scouts, they moved to his family's farm outside of Brockway, PA in the mid '90s where they wouldn't have to relocate again. Sue supported her husband with his Diaconate studies within the Catholic church, while she herself became a teacher and principal within the DuBois Area Catholic School system.

She enjoyed playing the piano and organ at the many church locations she attended throughout her life. Once in Brockway she was active at St. Tobias parish with the choir and also taught bible school. Sue enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, and was quite the accomplished seamstress and quilter.

Sue is survived by her two sons, Robert DeNoon II and Stuart DeNoon; two grandchildren, Sam and Jack DeNoon; and her siblings Donald and Jerry Wagley.

As per Sue's request, no viewing will be held prior to burial. She will be interred on Britton Meadows Farm with a family service followed by a celebration of her life.

To the family of Sue & Bob NeNoon:
My wife, Kathy, and I met Sue and Bob in the 1990s when all of us were attending the Diocese of Erie's Permanent Diaconate Program. Sue was such a pleasant and quiet person. Bob always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone. Truly fine people.
It was one of God's gifts to have had the privilege of knowing them.
May they now be reunited in the strong love they had for each other.

Our condolences to the DeNoon Family. Bob and Sue shared alot of time together as we went through our formation classes for the Permanent Diaconate in the late 1990's. We also were with each other in our annual retreats and days of recollection. We will always remember Sue as a loving, caring, and humble woman, who always put others before herself. And she was the only one who could control Bob! We are blest to call her our friend. Here is a picture of our whole class being installed as lectors for the Church on April 12, 1997 at St. Andrew Parish in Erie, PA. Thank you Sue for always being there for Bob and for us. Rest in our LORD's Peace, Joy, and Love!
