F. Beard Obituary

F. Douglas 'Doug' Beard, 71, of Curwensville, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Colonial Courtyard, Clearfield.

Doug was born January 31, 1954, in Clearfield, the son of John 'Jack' Beard and the late Doreen (Sample) Beard.

Doug was a bookkeeper for the family business, Beard Oil, as well as several other companies in the area. He also would fill in as a substitute Postal Carrier. An accomplished pianist, Doug served as the pianist for the Curwensville Town Choir, as well as the pianist and organist at the Curwensville United Methodist Church, where he was also an active member. He also participated and served as the organist for Search for Peace for many years. Doug held membership with the American Guild of Organists.

Doug is survived by his wife Tonda (Tubbs) Beard whom he wed on July 9, 1983; his father, John 'Jack' Beard; a sister, Denise Beard; two sisters-in-law, Betsy Bowser and husband Fred, and Jackie Densmore and husband Mike; two nephews, Casey Linsenbigler and wife Amanda, and Christopher Densmore; a great-niece, Jersey Linsenbigler; and a great-nephew, Rece Linsenbigler.

Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Doreen (Sample) Beard.

A funeral service will be held at the Curwensville United Methodist Church on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Don Smith officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.

A visitation will be held at Beardsley Funeral Home & Crematory, Clearfield on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 4-8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 10-11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Curwensville United Methodist Church, 602 State Street, Curwensville, PA 16833; or to the American Cancer Society, 108R North Second Street, Clearfield, PA 16830.

Doug was my classmate from kindergarten through high school. His quiet demeanor and everlasting smile were something I admired. Doug played the organ for my wedding in the January 1977 blizzard. God bless you, Tonda, for taking care of Doug.
