Gertrude Gardner Obituary
Born July 16, 1939, in St. Marys, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Beatrice (Krieg) Samick. She was married to William L. "Fuzzy" Gardner on May 4, 1963. He preceded her in death Sept. 23, 2014.
She was a graduate of St. Marys Catholic Schools.
She worked with Powdered Metal Products for 19 years and worked at the Force Hotel. She was a devoted housewife. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Gertrude enjoyed reading, playing cards and spending time with her family.
She was a Bennetts Valley resident since 1973.
Survivors include five children: William F. (Julie) Gardner of Moyock, N.C., Catherine (Alvin) Schatz of Weedville, Richard "Ricky" (Angel) Gardner of Weedville, Andrew John (Sandie) Gardner of Gardner Hill, Weedville; Amy (Donald) Gray of Caledonia; a brother, Robert Samick of Brockport; two sisters, Helen Frederickson and Marlene Braun, both of St. Marys; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Albert Samick Jr.; and a sister, Alberta Ehrensberger.
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, and from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2015, at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Force, with the Rev. Fr. William Sutherland as celebrant. Interment will be in Gardner Hill Cemetery, Weedville.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Gardner Hill Church, Valley American Legion Post 978 or Community Nurses Inc.

So sorry for your loss she was a great funny women we would allways talk at the ballfield when my kids played with her grandchildren.And allso at Violet Gardners house i am so sorry may god wrap his arms around your family threw this time.

To all you guys our prayers and love. I will always remember the first time Clyde brought me to the mountains, your mom was always so sweet and kind to me. We will always remember playing 31 and drinking coffee with her and your dad. The special family reunions in the back yard. Watching Deena and her cousins sitting in the sand pile digging up penny. Your mom was special, sorry we can't be there, but you all in our thoughts and prayers. We know she is at peace probably drinking coffee with your dad. Your mom is still very proud of all of you and so are we.

Bill, Cathy, Rick, Andy and Amy ... sincere condolences at this most difficult time. I have the best memories with your parents and all of you. The aging process is not nice and it hurts to see our parents suffer. My mom and your mom were the best of friends in addition to being sisters! This is very difficult for mom and I hope we can get her through this. God Bless and Take Care. We need to hang on the memories!!! Love you all!
