John Micks Obituary

John D. Micks, 70, of DuBois, PA died Friday, June 13, 2025, at Penn Highlands DuBois hospital.

Born on June 3, 1955, in Jamestown, NY, he was the son of the late Dr. John C. and Dorothy (Dickson) Micks.

On December 26, 1998, he married Nancy (Reitz) Micks. She survives.

John retired in 2012 from the DuBois Area School District after an over 30-year career as a school teacher.

The greater DuBois area was served well by John. In addition to teaching, his years of involvement in local government, the DuBois Volunteer Fire Department, the Rumbarger Cemetery Association, and many other non-profits and charities, has made our area a better place to live.

In addition to spending time with his family, John enjoyed going to his childhood home in Lake Chautauqua, New York.

In addition to Nancy, he is survived by two daughters, Kelly Ball and her husband Robert and Kristie Yount and her husband John, both of DuBois; six grandchildren: Derrick Ball and his wife, Ashley, and Alexa and Rachel Ball, Ian Yount and his wife, Kelly, and Mason and Christian Yount. Always on his mind were his three great-grandchildren. Family also includes John's sister, Barbara Toccafondi and her husband, Rolando; niece, Lisa Schutt; nephew, David Toccafondi; and great-niece and nephew, Zoey and Joshua Shutt.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Micks.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

A private family funeral will be held with Msgr. Richard Siefer officiating.

Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, it is the wish that any donations be made to a favorite charity or non-profit organization of the donor's choice. John always felt we should all support the area we care about and live in.
