Joseph P. Golanka, 56, DuBois, passed away suddenly Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, at his residence.
He was born March 17, 1959, in DuBois, Pa., son of the late Edward G. and Anna Victoria (Wojtaszek) Golanka.
Joseph married Michele (McFall) Golanka on April 15, 2000. She survives in DuBois.
Joseph is also survived by his brother, Edward J. (Sharon) Golanka of Coal Center, Pa.
Joseph was a graduate of Jefferson County Vocational School. He attended St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church of DuBois. Joseph enjoyed riding motorcycles and other outdoor activities.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, and from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home of DuBois. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in DuBois with the Rev. Father Dan Kresinski as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Stunned to hear of his passing, that day was pretty much a fog, as I tried to accept that he was gone. Although I never met Joe in person; talking to him on the phone during my job made it feel like we'd been friends for a long time. I will miss his sense of humor most of all. He was often a bright spot in my day when it wasn't going as well as I wanted. May the peace that our Savior provides give your family comfort during this difficult time.
