Karli VanBenthusen Obituary

Karli Dilynna (Bennett) VanBenthusen, 31, of Orlando, Fla., passed away peacefully at her home on Sept. 26, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born Aug. 1, 1984, in San Francisco, Calif., to Mary Beth (Jackson) Bennett and Clifford Bennett. She married Patrick VanBenthusen March 21, 2010, in Charleston, S.C.
Karli grew up in Brockway, Pa., where she attended Brockway Area High School.
In 2002, she moved to Orlando and attended the University of Central Florida. Karli obtained her bachelor's degree from the UCF Rosen School of Hospitality.
Karli's personality was infectious, and her unique way of connecting with people could brighten any room. She also had a tenacious and giving heart in making the world a better and cleaner place. Karli spent countless hours cleaning up her neighborhood and pouring her heart into recycling. She loved to volunteer her time, and gave her time to Meals on Wheels and IDignity. Karli also volunteered with the American Cancer Society and Relay For Life where she gained a second family. She enjoyed quilting, reading, crafting and traveling. She was a true inspiration on how to live each day to the fullest and love without expectations. Though her time on earth was short, her spirit will carry on forever.
Karli is survived by her loving husband, Patrick VanBenthusen of Orlando, Fla.; mother, Mary Beth Bennett of Reynoldsville; father, Clifford Bennett of DuBois; sisters, Cory Bennett of Columbus, Ohio, and Victoria Bennett of Orlando, Fla.
A celebration of life service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, at Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens, 633 Osceola Avenue, Winter Park, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, Karli's family is requesting contributions to the American Cancer Society be made on her behalf.

She was such a wonderful person and a great friend. Words can't explain the sorrow that is felt because she is not physically here with us, but her beautiful spirit will live on with us forever. We will continue the fight from here Karli. You will always be remembered, loved and missed dearly.

Karli is in Heaven now, where all her pain is gone. She has found peace.

I pray for Patrick, Beth, Cory, Victoria, and Cliff that they do not live their lives suffering without her and to have faith to continue day to day with beautiful memories.

I have known Beth since High School in PA and even though I did not know Karli that well, I have read enough about her to know she had her mother's love and strength. I love you Beth, stay strong.

It is nothing that can replace the pain we feel, knowing that you left so soon but your memories and your incredible love will stay with us forever.
We little knew that morning
God was to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.

Although your life was short Karli, you lived it fully and without negatively, just like your mother. My hats off to you as you fly in the heavens and truly be home, free of pain and sickness. As never having the pleasure of meeting you, I have been blessed to have known your mother. She too is a pillar of strength and encouragement to all that have the pleasure of knowing her. Your strong will for life has not gone unnoticed. I continue to pray for your parents as well as your siblings and husband, for their strength to let you fly with the Eagles and continue down the path of life without you! Rest in peace young one.

I did not get the pleasure to know her but was so touched by her courageous fight and the love she had for her family, friends and the good life she lived. She gave all of us a message to embrace life and love with all your heart. Her spirit lives on in all who loved her.

I am so sorry for your loss! Karli was such an inspiration to so many. Working with her while we were both home on breaks from college taught me how vivacious and fun she was, but also filled with compassion! She will be greatly missed!

I will always hate that such an ugly disease picked on such a beautiful person. Karli, you are a blessing to all of us that knew you. I am confident you have an army of friends and family who are going to be lifelong Relay For Life, Stand Up to Cancer, and American Cancer Society donators in your name. Beth, Cori, Vicki, and Patrick my heart aches for you and I hope you can find strength during these upcoming days, months, years, and lifetimes with happy memories of your happy Karli. Sending my love.

I had the privilege of caring for Karli on New Year's Eve when she was diagnosed. We stayed in touch and shared a special bond. When she heard I was diagnosed with cancer this summer she immediately reached out to me and blessed me with words of encouragement and advice. That was Karli...always cared more about others and loved everyone! I promise Karli and her awesome family that as long as I have breath inside me, I will continue the fight to find a cure for cancer. I love you all and will continue to pray for all!
Love,
