Mark Carlson Obituary

Mark Alan Carlson, DuBois, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois surrounded by those who loved him most.

Mark was born October 17, 1956, in DuBois to the late John D. and Laura (Henery) Carlson.

Mark graduated from Jeff Tech with the class of 1974 from the machine shop program and later pursued drafting courses through Penn State DuBois. Mark was employed by McDowell Manufacturing and ProShort Stamping for the majority of his working life. He also worked for the Pennsylvania Game Commission as a deputy for 10 years. After his early retirement, he spent a great deal of time assisting his Amish friends.

Always an avid outdoorsman, Mark was a member of the National Turkey Federation, the NRA, Pennsylvania Wildlife Habitat Unlimited, and the Sinnemahoning Sportsmen's Club. He enjoyed spending time with family at camp and viewing the elk in Benezette. Mark was a member of the Goldwing Riders and president of Christian Motorcycle Group, both of which were a huge part of his life over the last few years.

As a devout Christian, he had been active in the First Baptist Church of DuBois as a child, the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of DuBois through most of his adult life, and had recently begun attending Emanuel Nazarene Church in Sandy Township.

The great loves of his life were his daughter, Lisa, and his grandson, Tairone. His devotion to both was extraordinary.

Mark is survived by his daughter, Lisa Snider-Hoke and her husband, Gerald, of Punxsutawney; grandson, Tairone Powell, of DuBois; siblings, Helen McKendree and her husband, Dallas, of Brockway, Tim Carlson and his wife, Mary, of DuBois, and Scott Carlson and his wife, Karen, of Elizabethtown, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his son, Glenn, on February 5, 1999, and an infant brother, Donald Carlson.

Friends and family will be received Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and 3-6 p.m. from the Adamson Funeral Chapel and Crematorium. Following the evening visitation, a funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. from the funeral chapel with Pastor Greg Niver officiating.

Donations in Mark's honor may be made to the Emanuel Church of the Nazarene.
