Maureen Viglione Obituary

On June 9th, one of the most beautiful humans was called by God to enter into paradise to be reunited with her beloved husband, Tony. Maureen Louise (Benigni) Viglione of 1838 Treasure Lake, Dubois, PA, died Thursday unexpectedly at Allegheny General Hospital.

Maureen was born on August 30, 1946 and was the daughter of the late Glenn and Elda Benigni. She resided in Ridgway from 1956 to 2009, when she moved to Treasure Lake. She was a member of St Leo's Catholic Church in Ridgway and St. Michael Archangel Catholic Church in Dubois.

Maureen grew up along with her wonderful extended family in Weedville, PA and loved sharing her childhood stories with her children and grandchildren. She was a graduate of Bennetts Valley High School, where she attended with many friends and cousins.

On June 1, 1968, she married her forever love, Tony. On August 3, 2021, after 22 months of effortlessly caring for him during his illness, she said goodbye to him. Her heart was broken and her smile dimmed. Now, they are together in eternal peace where they belong.

She is survived by her three children : Nikki (Travis) Williams of Pittsburgh, PA; Tricia (Jason) Brigger of DuBois, PA; and Garret Viglione of Pittsburgh, PA; nine grandchildren (Anthony Williams, Lucia Williams, Sofia Williams, Mario Williams, Gino Williams, Bruno Williams, Isaac Brigger, Lidia Brigger and Roman Brigger); two sisters Sharon (Bob) Marshall of Ohio and Pam Pauline of Kersey; three brothers-in-law, Michael Viglione of Grantville, PA, John Viglione of Ridgway, PA and Michael Dillon of Altoona, PA; and a sister-in-law Carmella Bonghi. A huge part of her heart was devoted to her son Garret's dog, Rocco. He was her companion and guard dog and she was his treat extraordinaire. Rocco surely will miss her. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Tony; her parents Glenn and Elda; her beautiful sister Debbie Dillon; her brothers- in-law John Bonghi, Thomas Pauline and Bruce Heigel; and her sister-in-law Donna Viglione.

Maureen lived for her faith and family. She gave all of herself to her faith and those that she loved with all of her heart. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world. She set the example for how to be a spouse and a parent and how to put God and family before all else. She provided love and support and guidance every day to each of her children and grandchildren. She was happiest when she had everyone together at her home. She was a wife, a mother, a sister, an aunt, a cousin, and now she is an angel . The legacy Tony and she left for their children will live on forever.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Maureen Viglione will be celebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 11am. Officiating will be Fr. William Laska, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Brookville, and Fr. Nick Vaskov, pastor of Christ Our Savior Church in Pittsburgh. Burial will be at St. Leo's Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 2-5pm.

If desired, memorial donations can be made in Maureen's honor to The Pittsburgh Foundation c/o Foundation 56 at Five PPG Place, Suite 250, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. Share your online condolences at thompsonfuneralhomepa.com.
