Michael Ferraro Obituary

Michael P. Ferraro Jr., 79, of Shaffer Road, Brookville, PA passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the Penn Highlands hospital in DuBois, PA.

Born January 23, 1942, in Aspinwall, PA, Mike was the son of the late Michael P. Ferraro Sr. and Henrietta Welter Ferraro, and on January 12, 2002, he married the love of his life, Carol L. Martin in Brookville, PA, who survives.

Mike graduated from Aspinwall High School in Pittsburgh, PA and Clarion University in Clarion, PA, and worked as a special education teacher at Deer Lakes High School in the Fox Chapel School District for over 30 years. When not teaching, Mike loved construction, building seven houses.

He was a member of the Saint Dominic's Catholic Church in Sigel, PA, and Mike loved the Lord and took every opportunity to share the chance for Salvation to those he met.

His pride and joy were watching his grandchildren's sports.

Mike is the last member of his immediate family, and survived by his wife, three daughters – Michelle Ferraro of Utah, Deanna Wall (husband Cory) of Utah, and Danielle Maze of Falls Creek, PA, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael David Ferraro, and brother, Rodney Ferraro.

Private family services will be held by the family at the Peterson Funeral Home, Brookville, PA with The Rev. William Laska officiating, and internment will take place in the Riggs Cemetery, Warsaw Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.

In loving memory of Mike, the family would gratefully appreciate any memorial donations be made to the Immaculate Conception Church – 129 Graham Ave. Brookville, PA 15825, or to the Alpha Gamma Phi Scholarship Fund – 840 Wood St. Clarion, PA 16214.

Arrangements are under the care of Peterson Funeral Home, 153 Jefferson St., Brookville, PA 15825.

I have great memories of working with Mike when I was a new teacher at Deer Lakes High School. We were on morning bus duty together and would always share stories and a good laugh. He would show pictures of his latest building project and give me the details of all the plans he had for his latest project. He was a great guy and will be missed.
