Bennie J. Coy, 68, of New Castle, passed away on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
He was born on December 9, 1956, in Beech Grove, Indiana, a son of the late Ronald Gene Coy Sr. and Barbara Jean (Grismore) Beach.
Bennie was a graduate of Southport High School in Indianapolis and spent his working career in the trucking industry. He was a diesel mechanic for C.F. Trucking and Emery Worldwide. For 20 years, Bennie served as the maintenance manager at UPS, ensuring their fleet of trucks stayed on the roadways.
He was a fix-it man and could fix anything that needed to be repaired.
Bennie loved being outdoors. He had a great love of fishing, hunting, and boating. He was so in tune with his boat that one night he had a dream in which it sank. In the morning, when he went to the dock, his boat had indeed sunk.
He enjoyed being at his Cabin at Cataract Falls near Cloverdale and taking his family on their annual trip to Barren River Lake in Kentucky. Bennie was an IU Basketball and Football fan and enjoyed watching the Colts. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Bennie's memory include a son, Casey J. (Sabrina) Coy of Greenfield; four grandchildren, Sophia Coy, Laurel Coy, Calvin Coy, and Watson Coy; a brother, Ronald (Linda) Coy of Indianapolis; two sisters, Terri Kelso of Indianapolis, and Janice (Ronnie) Manis of Whiteland; and five additional siblings, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bennie was preceded in death by a son, Cody Joe Coy, in 2014 and a brother-in-law, Steve Kelso.
