Denver Grubbs, Sr., 89, of New Castle, passed away peacefully in his home Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025. He was born May 11, 1936, in Pineville, Kentucky, a son of Lawrence and Emma Frances (Lewis) Grubbs. Denver was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War.
Denver lived in many places before settling down in New Castle. He was known as a man of few words and was generous and kind. Denver was an avid fisherman, hunter and loved nature. Being a husband, dad and grandfather is what he cherished most. He loved spending time with his family.
Denver was employed at Modernfold Industries for 36 years before retiring in 1997.
Denver married his lifelong love Janet Taylor Grubbs on Oct. 19, 1957. They were married for 65 years. Janet preceded Denver in passing in October 2022.
He is survived by children, Denise (Steve) Bates, Deena (Lee) Blake and Derek (Amy) Grubbs; 10 grandchildren: Christa Goodwin, Kara Saghir, Braden Grubbs, Danielle Malicoat, Vanessa Bookmeyer, Evan Carender, Amanda Blake, Jared Grubbs, Lacey Rivers and Megan Crabtree; 30 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Denver was preceded in death by his wife Janet, son Denver Grubbs, Jr., grandson Matthew Stephens, and great-grandson Jaxson Grubbs as well as 12 brothers and sisters.
In honoring his wishes, there will be no services. A cremation will take place.
