Eugene Ziglar Obituary

Eugene "Gene" Ziglar, 85, of New Castle, passed away on the afternoon of Sunday, July 20, 2025, at home with his family by his side.

He was born on April 30, 1940, in Fowler, Indiana, a son of the late Thomas Edgar and Lena Mae (Rasner) Ziglar.

Gene enlisted in the US Army and served for nine years, including deployments in Vietnam. Following his military service, he worked for 33 years at the Chrysler Corporation.

Gene married the love of his life, Brenda Fulkerson, on October 26, 1967. He had a passion for flying from an early age, obtained his pilot's license, and loved spending time in the air.

He enjoyed bowling throughout his life, from setting pins at Shoehart's Bowling Alley in downtown New Castle as a teenager to bowling a "perfect game" at the Rose Bowl. He was a member of the Henry County Bowling Association Hall of Fame.

Following retirement, you could find Gene daily, rain or shine, on the golf course. He also enjoyed spending time fishing.

Those left to cherish Gene's memory include his wife of nearly 58 years, Brenda Ziglar; one son, Michael Eugene (Regan) Ziglar of New Castle; two grandsons, Dylan Ziglar of New Castle and Seth Wrinkles of Pendleton; three granddaughters, Kimberly (Dan) Dillman of Evansville, Lindsay Blake Christmas of Greentown, FL, and Caylyn Williamson of New Castle; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandson, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Wrinkles, in 1994; a son, Mark (Natalie) Fulkerson, in 1994; two sisters, Mary Mercer and Kathleen Daniel; four brothers-in-law, and three sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Carl Niles officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens with military funeral honors conducted by contingents from the US Army, The American Legion, and V.F.W.
