Irene Bertram Obituary
Irene A. (Slagle) Bertram, 88, of Chesterfield passed away on April 13, 2025 at The Waters of Chesterfield following an extended illness.
She was born on October 26, 1936 in Monticello, Kentucky to Vincent and Edna Mae (Dobbs) Slagle. She was primarily a homemaker. She worked in retail for 20 years at both Meijer and Mr. Penguin.
She attended Chesterfield Community Church of God. She enjoyed gardening especially flowers and vegetables. She loved her animals and listening to country music.
She was survived by her son, Dan Bertram of Chesterfield; a sister, Ruth (Hurlen) Huckeby; a brother, Donald (Soundra) Slagle; two grandchildren, Christopher Bertram and Amanda (Brian) Perkins; three great-grandchildren, Trevor Bertram, Lola Sawyers, and Jackson Perkins; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Randy Bertram; a brother, Ottis Slagle; and her ex-husband, Cletus Bertram.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at South Mound Cemetery in New Castle, IN with Ned Clark officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to Madison County Humane Society.
