JoAnn Boiles Obituary

JoAnn Cook Boiles, 82, went home to be with her heavenly Father on Friday, December 15, 2023. JoAnn was born November 19th, 1941, in New Castle, Indiana, to the late Maurice Cook and Pauline Cook-Petty. A 1960 graduate of New Castle High School and later the Indiana Business College, she worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Standard Foodliner and Becker Brothers. Later in life she became a foster grandparent, a position she dearly loved. She cherished the many children who called her "Grandma". JoAnn was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader, but her favorite book was the Bible. She read from it or "The Upper Room" daily.

Survivors include her brother Floyd (Gwen) Cook of Cookeville, TN; 2 sisters, Bonnie (Warren) Catron of New Castle, Mary Stoots of Bowling Green, KY; nephew Warren (Lora) Catron Jr. of Brownsburg; nieces, Tina (Kenny) Catron VanMatre, of New Castle, Letreze Stoots, of Bowling Green, KY, and Misti (Joel) Schielie, of New Castle.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Maurice Cook II.

A graveside service for JoAnn will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday December 22nd, 2023, at South Mound Cemetery in New Castle, Indiana. Reverend Michelle White will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church at 1324 Church Street, New Castle, IN 47362.

Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home has been entrusted with her arrangements.
