Kenneth A. Appleby, 78, of New Castle, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2022 at his home following a brief illness. He was born June 26, 1943 in Albany, Kentucky, a son of the late John Sherman and Georgia (Guthrie) Appleby.
Kenneth retired from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle following 30 years of service. He was always active in his church, serving as deacon, church bus driver and in bus maintenance at Immanuel Baptist for many years, and more recently was a member and bus mechanic at Whittier Lane Baptist Church.
Kenneth loved his family, enjoying many road trips, sight-seeing trips, and outings with them. He also enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle, taking several trips with his wife, Beula. A true Mr. Fix-it, he could repair anything, and would work on it diligently until it was fixed.
He leaves to cherish his wife of over 61 years, Beula Appleby of New Castle; three children, Kenny Appleby of New Lisbon, Becky (Jerry) Rector of Lewisville, and Pam (Randy) Christopher of Muncie; twelve grandchildren, Kory Appleby, Whitney (Ryan) Draper, Kaleb Appleby, Kensington Appleby, Bayleigh Appleby; Aaron (Rachel) Rector, Brandon Rector, Justin (Madi) Rector, Cody Norris, Breeana Christopher, MacKenzie Christopher, and Mariah (Quin) Fields; thirteen great grandchildren; a sister, Margaret (Paul) Brown of Albany, KY; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Ray Appelby, Jessie Appleby, Bessie Sidwell and Gleneve Robinson; a great granddaughter, Airelyn Anderson.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Bro. Melvin Daniel and Pastor Doug Keppel officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Friday, June 3, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service.
