Larry Lephart, 76, of Springport, Indiana, passed away on the afternoon of Friday, June 13, 2025, at Henry Community Health following an extended illness.
He was born on October 8, 1948, in New Castle, Indiana, a son of the late Harold and Priscilla (Lewis) Lephart.
Larry was a graduate of Blue River High School in the class of 1966. He served in the U.S. Navy, and following his discharge in 1972, he began work at Ingersoll Rand Steel in New Castle. Being deeply patriotic, Larry re-entered the US Navy in 1987, serving an additional nearly six years.
He married Sheila Maureen (Kelly) on November 8, 1995, and they enjoyed shopping, dancing, and simply being together at home.
Larry was laid-back and had an easy-going nature. He looked forward to gathering monthly for breakfast with his "Old Cronies" from the military at the New Castle V.F.W. A man of few words, he loved working with wood in his shed, crafting various cabinets, tables, and other pieces, mowing his yard, and he and Sheila's dogs, Katy, Abby, and Rhett Butler.
Most of all, he loved his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Larry's memory include his wife of nearly 30 years, Sheila Lephart; his son, Larry Lee (Maricela) Lephart Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida; two grandchildren, Alexis Katalina Lephart and Peyton Alejandro Lephart; his siblings, Cindy Lephart, Laverne Lephart, Diann Arthur, and Loda Lephart; two nieces, Leslie Lephart and Jennie (Scott) Cole; a nephew, Jeremy Lephart; great nieces and nephews, Gabriel Bertram, Grace Bertram, Nicole Shaffer, Ali Jones, Austin Jones, Hannah Cole, Logan Lephart and Lexi Lephart.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by an infant sister, Linda Kay Lephart, and a brother-in-law, Michael Arthur.
A Celebration of Larry's life is being planned at a later date.
