Mary P. Ferguson, age 95, went home to her Savior, Jesus Christ on September 26, 2025 at Henry Community Health after a brief illness. She was born May 25, 1930 in Modoc, Kentucky. Her Parents were Delton Garner and Ida (Holman) Garner. Her mother died when she was 3 years old and her father married Noxie (Arms) Garner who helped raise her. On January 9, 1947 she married Cecil Odell Ferguson and was married to him for 59 years before his death in 2006. They had two children, Wayne Ferguson and Doug Ferguson.
She worked many years for the New Castle School System food services. She enjoyed talking to her friends on the phone, cooking for her family and reading her bible. She enjoyed eating out with her favorite places being: Cracker Barrel, McDonald's and Mings. She loved going to the New Castle Trojans basketball games, especially when her son Doug was playing for them. She had attended Foursquare Gospel Church for over 70 years, and was also attending Crossroads Church.
She is survived by her children; Wayne (Elaine) Ferguson of Springport, and Doug (Donna) Ferguson of Muncie; three grandchildren, Tina (Jim) Lewis of Economy, Lisa (Scott) Black of Camby, Kyle (Rachelle) Ferguson of Camby; six great-grandchildren, Christina (Jeff) Alexander, of New Castle, Emily Black of Camby, Ryan Black serving in the U.S. Army in Washington State, Ila Ferguson, Graham Ferguson, and Ada Ferguson of Camby; two great-great grandchildren, Adalynn and Avery of Camby; sister Shelia Kegg of Illinois.
She is also survived by special friends; Sherman and Kathy Boles, Darlene Thompson, Shelia Newland, June Brown, June Wilson, Stella Atkinson, Barbara Hill and Elva Hoots.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Juanita; an infant brother, James; granddaughter Alyssa Ferguson McCann.
The family would also like to thank the ER and ICU staff at Henry Community Health for the compassionate and excellent care provided during her illness.
Services will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Jim Becker and Danny Douglas officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition.
