Robert Anthony "Tony" Parks, 84, a resident of Springport passed away Saturday, September 27, 2025. He was born December 19, 1940 in San Diego, CA to the late Roy Robert and Georgia Lee (Beckner) Parks.
Tony graduated from Point Loma High School in San Diego and graduated from the University of Missouri at Rolla in 1966. In 1967, he received his MSEE from Purdue University. Tony was a veteran of the US Navy where he served on aircraft carriers in the Pacific. An engineer, Tony retired from Roche Diagnostics in Indianapolis in 2000. He had previously worked at General Electric in Burlington, Vermont. A private pilot, Tony enjoyed flying planes for twenty years. He was a member of the Indiana Society of Professional Engineers as well as Fairlawn Church of Christ in Muncie. He was an amateur radio operator and later sold software defined amateur radio kits to ham radio operators in over seventy countries. He also taught math classes at IU East, Ball State University and Ivy Tech. In addition to flying planes, his hobbies included gardening and reading Christian books. Tony read the Bible through on many occasions. He loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. Tony was known to have his own special way of getting things done. Tony is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Rebecca (Chambers) Parks, whom he married June 16, 1968; two children: Robert A. Parks Jr. of Milford, Connecticut and Susan Flowers (Michael) of Peoria, Illinois; three grandchildren: Elizabeth "Beth" Flowers, Matthew Flowers and Nathan Flowers; a sister-in-law: Sheila Parks; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Donald and Daniel Parks and a sister-in-law: Karen Parks.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Fairlawn Church of Christ in Muncie with Dave Mathews officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to Fairlawn Church of Christ, 6108 W. Bethel Avenue, Muncie, IN 47304. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
