Susan Ann Rinehart Sanders, 88, a long time Hagerstown resident, died Friday, October 11, 2024 at Kettering Health, Kettering, OH.
Susan was born in Hagerstown on October 14, 1935 to H. Earl and Opal (Snider) Rinehart. She was a life long Hagerstown resident until recently joining her daughter in New Carlisle, OH.
She was a 1953 graduate of Hagerstown High School. She married Marcel "Bud" Sanders, Jr. that same year. She was employed at Perfect Circle / Dana, retiring from the Sleeve Casting Plant in Richmond in 1995, following 40 years of service.
Susan was a member of Hagerstown First United Methodist Church. She had been a Girl Scout leader and was a member of United Methodist Women. She was an associate member of Phi chi Epsilon Sorority, a member of New Castle Chapter 116, Order of Eastern Star and a member of William O. Frazier Post 333, American Legion Auxiliary. She had also been a 4-H judge in ceramics, fine arts and other projects for the surrounding counties.
Her hobbies included reading, needlework and ceramics. She also enjoyed the company of her friends.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Stephanie Sanders of Central City, NE, Vanessa Golgert (Robin) of Central City, NE and Courtney Evans of New Carlisle, OH; 4 grandchildren, Eronne Schrader, Nolan Golgert, Evan Schmidt (Mikayla) and Chase Schmidt (Dara); 3 great-grandchildren, Brinlee Schrader, Kiera Schrader and Kitai Schrader.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marcel Sanders, a son-in-law, Don Tebbets, and a grandson, Keith Evans.
Visitation will be 10 AM to 12 noon on Saturday, October 19, at Culberson Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Services will follow at 12. Pastor Nate Eckert will officiate. Burial will be in Brick Cemetery.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Hagerstown First United Methodist Church.
