Vesta Irene Redick was born February 3rd, 1936, and went to her heavenly home on September 30, 2025, after a long illness. She was the daughter of James Logan and Rose (Barnes) Marcum.
Vesta was lovingly known as Tootie to her family and very close friends. She was married to Charles Eugene Redick for 52 years; he preceded her in death in 2009. She retired from the Federal Government where she worked for more than 40 years, her last position being a Supervisor for the Social Security Administration.
Charles (known to family as Gene) and Vesta loved to travel the globe and make friends around the world. In their retirement they settled in Kodac TN, where they loved to hike and entertain family and friends. Vesta moved back to New Castle, IN to help care for family after Charles' death.
She is presided in death by her still born child Tracy Charlene, brothers Ettard Marcum (wife Elsie), Herbert Cove Marcum (wife Gussie), and James Logan Marcum Jr (wife Marie) and her sisters Lillian Neal (husband Tiz), and Lucille Rains (husband Chester), her niece Carolyn Caldwell (husband Steven) and niece in law Alice Rains.
Left to cherish her memory are nephew Chester A Rains Jr (wife Charlotte), niece Kay Walcott (husband Jim), niece Beth Ann Fox (husband Darrell), nephew Glen Marcum (wife Debby), niece Pam Upchurch (husband Ron), and nephew Gary Marcum (wife Jenny) and many many many great nieces and nephews, special friends and caretakers.
The family wants to thank caretakers Charlotte Rains, Jenny Cronk, Darlene Runyon, Leah Hinneman and the staff at Glen Oaks for taking such good care of her, especially John and Mandy at Glen Oaks. We also want to thank Henry County Hospice for meeting all her needs.
