Arthur Boss Obituary

Arthur Wayne House Downing Boss

AGE: 91 • Hopewell

Arthur Wayne House Downing Boss, D.D.S., 91 of Hopewell Township died Thursday, April 17, 2014 at his home. Born in Camden on December 20, 1922 he was the son of the late James D. Boss and Ruth Madeline Willett Boss. His family relocated to Fairton in 1932. He was a graduate of the Bridgeton High School Class of 1940. After high school he worked as a master machinist at the New York Ship Yard. He then enlisted In the Navy in WWII and was discharged when the war ended after receiving his wings as a Naval Pilot.

In 1952 he graduated with highest honors from the University of Pennsylvania Dental School. He practiced dentistry from 1952 until his retirement this past October in 2013. He felt his purpose was to relieve his patients of their pain and help anyone he met in life in any way he could through the benefit of his experience. He married the love of his life, Anne Randolph in 1947. The past 66 years they have been

living their lives together to the fullest. He was a farmer and looked forward to bailing hay each summer. He was a sulky horse driver / trainer and he and his

prized horse "Happy Christmas " set a national record for toe year old filly pacers in 1974. He enjoyed vacationing and spending time with his family in

Ocean City and Disney World. To him everything in life was an adventure. But mostly, he loved his family.

In addition to his wife, Anne " Reds " Boss, he is survived by son, Robert Boss (LuAnn); daughters, Susan Boss Corson (Bill) & Bonnie Boss; grandchildren, Jason Boss (Diana) Justin Boss (Diana) Tanner Boss and Quinn Boss; great grandchildren, Logan and Declan; sister, Margaret Boss McDowell; brother, Richard Boss and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers H. Carry Boss and James D. Boss, Jr.

Friends will be received at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Tuesday, April 22nd from 11 AM to 1 PM. Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Written condolences can be sent to the family at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com
