Billy Jones, 56, of Millville died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at South Jersey Healthcare Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born in Bridgeton to Dorothy Mae Teagle Jones of Millville and the late Llody E. Jones on Sept. 9, 1953, he was the husband of Brenda Suber Jones. He had been a Millville resident for three years and had lived in Bridgeton and Port Norris prior to that.
Mr. Jones was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict, serving his country with the U.S. Marine Corps. A member of the Church of God of Christ in Fairton, he previously had been employed with South Jersey Healthcare in Bridgeton and Vineland and with the Port Norris school system.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by three sons, Eric Jones of Batavia, Ohio, and Nathan Jones and Billy Jones Jr., both of Cincinnati; two stepsons, Harold Ryan Jr. and Samuel Ryan, both of Bridgeton; three stepdaughters, Vivian Purdie of Philadelphia, Michelle Ryan of Vineland and June Ryan of Millville; three brothers, Llody E. Jones Jr. of Boston, Lawrence Jones of Port Norris and Donald Jones of Seabrook; three sisters, Pershael Pearson of Westover, Md., Rosetta Ward of Millville and Cosetta Davis of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren; and nine step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Paul Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of God in Christ, 93 Main St., Fairton. Burial will take place at Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery in Hopewell Township. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church Tuesday.
