Donna L. Moore

AGE: 51 • Medford

Donna L. Moore, 51, of Medford and formerly of Port Norris died Friday morning at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York. Donna was born in Cape May Court House, NJ and was the daughter of the late Zygmund and Loleda Collo Rutkowski and the wife of Steve Moore. Donna grew up in Woodbine and resided Dennisville and Port Norris prior to moving to Medford 5 months ago. Donna was the Business Manager for Moore Studios. She served on Commercial Township as a Committeeperson, serving two years as Mayor. As a member of the Recreation Committee, she was the driving force in getting the very popular skate park in built. She managed major renovations to the historic Robbinstown Library, and worked to renew the lease to keep a local sand mining company operating in the township for at least another twenty years. Donna was very active in the community, founding the Commercial Township Chamber of Commerce, now known as Chamber by the Bay. She served as Secretary for the Port Norris Historical Society. She created the Port Norris Crime Watch, working with State Police to stop drug dealing in front of a local market. She served on the Cumberland County Empowerment Zone, and was a member of the NJ League of Municipalities. Donna had a passion for youth activities, she started a 4-H cooking club and also would design costumes for many of the school plays at Haleyville School. She worked tirelessly and fearlessly to create a better community.

Surviving are her husband, Steve, her children, Christopher and Megan, sisters, Judy DiGalbo (Joe) of Cape May Courthouse, Linda Smallwood (Chuck) of Clearwater, Florida, and brother, Michael Rutkowski of Woodbine.

A graveside service will be held at the Union Cemetery on Rt. 47 in South Dennis on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ted Osler officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Commercial Township Recreation 1768 Main Street Port Norris, NJ 08349. Please designate donations are for the Skate Park.

Arrangements are being handled by Hoffman Funeral Homes, Port Norris.

I just tonight found out about this and am very sorry to hear. Donna Moore has been such a loyal friend, through thick and thin, to us skateboarders. Her legacy of advocating for young people, and helping improve quality of life for them (most importantly the skate park), will live on forever in our hearts. Many prayers for the family. Donna, we are forever indebted to you for your kindness. You're a gift from God. From the bottom of our hearts, all we can say is THANK YOU and WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
