Edward Wilks, Jr.
Vineland - Edward Wilks, Jr., passed away on February 25, 2021 at the age of 78.
He passed away in Baker's Place Assisted Living, Vineland, New Jersey due to natural causes.
Edward Wilks, Jr. (also known as Big Ed) was born in Cane Hill, Arkansas to Helen Wilks-Maxwell and William Everett Wilks. He grew up with his oldest brothers Floyd Ray and Wallace Carr, and younger sister Flora Phillips. As a teen, he loved boxing and picking up cars to display his super human strength. He attended Fayetteville Senior High School and excelled at all sports. He earned a black belt in karate, and played on softball teams where he earned the nickname, "China Man" due to his ability to hit softballs a "mile" far. He worked at Bob Novick's auto dealership, and later opened his own business, "Ed Wilks Simonizing Service".
Big Ed was predicated in death by his mother and father, oldest brothers, and all aunts, uncles, and grandparents on both paternal and maternal sides of the family.
He is survived by sister Flora Phillips (daughters-Reina (Eboni) and Samella (Samuel), son-Chandle (Julian); first-born son James Wilks (wife-Kim Wilks, daughter-Shayla Wilks, sons-Chris James Banks and Ethan Wilks) and first-born daughter Helen Rodriguez (son-Michael Rodriguez, daughters Destiny Jackson and Chantelle Kearney; Ruby Kay Simon (mother to James Wilks and Helen Rodriquez). He is also survived by Felix Wilks (wife-Alia Diane Wilks), Ray Wilks (wife-Gloria Wilks, daughter-Adelina Wilks, son-Ray Javier Wilks), Helen Wilks (sons-Montgomery, Mitchell, Maxwell, daughter-Jamie), Michael Wilks, Cynthia Wilks, Edward Wilks (wife-Kristen Wilks, sons-Elijah and Quinn Wilks), MaryJoAnn Wilks; Cynthia Wilks-Mosley (mother to Felix, Ray, Helen, Michael, Cynthia, Edward, and MaryJoAnn).
There will be no funeral service, however, a memorial visitation will be held on Friday March 5, 2021 from 4:00-6:00pm from the SRAY -WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME 62 Landis Ave. at Carll's Corner, Upper Deerfield Twp.
