FRANCES AMES Obituary

Sister Frances Georgia Bush Ames fought a good fight. She finished her course and she kept the faith. Sister Ames went from earth to glory on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, while surrounded by her loving family.

Sister Ames was born Nov. 14, 1922, in Port Norris to the late George and Lula Green Bush of St. Michaels Co., Md. She was the fourth of eight daughters. Sister Ames was educated in the Port Norris education system. Sister Ames married Robert W. Ames Sr. on Aug. 5, 1949. They were married for 54 years until his death on June 10, 2003. Sister Ames was employed at Venice Maid in Vineland, where she retired after 30 years of commendable service. After her retirement from Venice Maid, she worked for the Commercial Township Board of Education as a paraprofessional on the school bus for 10 years.

Sister Ames leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life six children, Gloria Harris (Russell), Mary E. Harden, Edith Eckeard (Olen), E. Robert Stewart, S. Ellie Ames (Robin) and Robert W. Ames Jr. (Lola); four sisters Carrie Jamison, Edith Selby, Mary Bridges and Elsie Hudgon (Roosevelt); 24 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Robert W. Ames Sr., Sister Ames was predeceased by one daughter, Stella Ames Johnson; one grandson, Robert A.N. Stewart; and three sisters, Louise Bush, Sarah Stubbs and Alice Bowyer.

Services will be held at noon Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church in Port Norris, where friends may view one hour prior to services. Pastor James A. Dunkins will be eulogizing. Interment will be held at Haleyville Cemetery immediately following services.

how is every body? im sad to here that momma ames is past away. i know god will give the strength to all of us to overcome the pain in our heart.
before momma ames past away, i still remember the time she talked with her son ellie and i saw how happy they are to talk with each other.i cant imagine that that was the first and last time that i will see her.but im glad i've met her.
i know momma ames is happy because the pain is taken away and she have a good and happy family.she stay strong for them.
about ellie, dont worry abut him i will love and take care of him till the end.
we will keep the memory here in our heart. god bless to your family and and let us commit everything to our lord as we commit our lives.
