Grace Madigan Obituary

Grace E. Morie Madigan

Diamondhead, MS - Grace Eltha Morie Madigan, 86 years old of Diamondhead, MS went home to heaven on Friday, May 28, 2021. She was surrounded by her family showering her with love. It was a natural and peaceful end to a remarkable life well lived.

Grace was Born April 2, 1935, in Vineland, New Jersey to Jean B. Morie & Jesse T. Morie.

She attended high school at Sanford Preparatory School in Delaware and is a Graduate of Capital University, Columbus, OH with a bachelor's degree in music education. Grace Moved to MS in 2015 after a long residence in Rolla, Missouri. Previously she lived in Leesburg Virginia where she raised her three children. She loved to travel and enjoyed countless trips to Canada, England, Scotland, Bermuda and beyond. She had friends and loved ones around the world. Her door was always open, and it was commonplace for those in need to seek refuge under her roof. She has strong family ties to Vineland, NJ and spent summers during her youth at the Jersey Shore in Avalon. She never met a stranger, loved sharing the word of God, and was a powerful force. She loved to sing in her beautiful alto voice, pray with anyone who asked and have conversations for as long as were needed. She was a minister of the Word, a music teacher, travel agent, salesclerk, office administrator and intercessor. She was as loyal as a lion, as peaceful as a lamb and as stubborn as oak.

Over the arc of her life, she wove together a beautiful patchwork tapestry of friendship. It has been woven together with the young and old, rich and poor and all nationalities. As she passed her parting words to her family were "I love you" leaving behind a smile to comfort her family and all that will mourn her. Grace is survived by her children Kimberlee J. Rechtien and husband Rick, Todd M. Taylor and wife Rendi, and Robert R. Granlund. Her grandchildren Jesse Rechtien, Morgan Rechtien and Nathaniel Gerdes. Her brother, Jesse T.(Jay) Morie, and wife Peggy. Her two nieces Tracey Dutton and Gaye Popa, and her stepmother, Mary Ella Morie. Grace is predeceased by her parents Jean B. Morie & Jesse T. Morie. Three words that sum up Graces' life:

Prayer, Laughter, Love.

Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Pastor Mike Ramsey

August 15, 2021

Grace was a member of Central Bible Church in Bay St. Louis for a while before moving. It was my honor to serve as her pastor during that time. She and I would joke about our being the founding members of the "Smarty Pants" club because of her vast knowledge of the Word of God! Heaven has a sweeter sound today because Grace´s voice is ringing loud and clear there. I just learned today that she had gone home. She will be missed greatly by so many who love her!
